1. Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how CONNECTRA collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. By using our service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information to provide and improve our services:
- Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information including your name, email address, and profile picture to authenticate your identity.
- Registration Data: We store the date and time you first registered on CONNECTRA and your last sign-in timestamp.
- Session Data: We collect data about your video chat sessions including session start time, end time, duration, and the identity of connected peers. This data is used for platform monitoring, analytics, and to ensure quality of service.
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymous data on how the service is accessed and used (e.g., session frequency, connection stability) to improve performance.
3. Peer-to-Peer Data
CONNECTRA uses WebRTC technology for video and audio calls. This means that video and audio streams are transmitted directly between users (peer-to-peer) and generally do not pass through our servers. We do not record or store your video or audio calls.
However, text messages sent through the chat feature during a session may be temporarily processed by our servers for delivery purposes but are not permanently stored.
4. Administrative Access & Monitoring
To maintain platform integrity and ensure user safety, designated administrators have access to:
- User Directory: Administrators can view a list of all registered users, including their display names, email addresses, registration dates, and last sign-in times.
- Session Monitoring: Administrators can view active and completed session data including session duration, participants, and connection times. Video/audio content is NOT accessible to administrators.
- Account Management: Administrators reserve the right to remove user accounts that violate our Terms of Service or for any reason deemed necessary for platform safety.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Account Information: Retained for as long as your account is active.
- Session Data: Retained for analytics and monitoring purposes. Historical session data may be kept indefinitely for platform improvement.
- Deleted Accounts: When your account is deleted (either by you or by an administrator), your authentication data is removed from our systems. Historical session data may be anonymized and retained.
6. User Responsibility for Privacy
Please be aware that:
- You are connecting with strangers. We cannot control what other users do with the information you share during a chat or video call.
- Do not share sensitive personal information (such as your address, phone number, financial details, or passwords) with anyone on the platform.
- Any information you disclose during a video or text chat is done at your own risk.
- Other users may record or screenshot your video calls without your knowledge. CONNECTRA is not responsible for such actions.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- With Law Enforcement: If required by law or in response to valid legal requests (e.g., subpoenas, court orders).
- Safety Concerns: To protect the safety of our users or the public when we believe disclosure is necessary.
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers (e.g., Firebase for authentication, MongoDB for data storage) who assist in operating our platform under strict confidentiality agreements.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.

9. Security
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We have the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
